Shinichi Nishimura
JNP Welcomes New Topic Editor
On March 1, Prof. Shinichi Nishimura (Hiroshima University, Japan) was appointed Topic Editor for the Journal of Natural Products. Prof. Nishimura is the first JNP editor from Japan and joins the journal hoping to shine a spotlight on research that uncovers novel biological activities of natural products. "Such discoveries not only advance fundamental scientific understanding but also lay the groundwork for future drug development," says Nishimura. "I am confident that JNP will continue to reach an even broader scientific community and increase its impact in the years ahead." See the full editorial board here.

Special Issue: Natural Product Signals
On March 27, the Journal of Natural Products published a Special Issue titled "Natural Product Signals: From Microbiomes to the Environment." The research presented in this Special Issue highlights the numerous ways in which natural compounds play myriad roles in biology as signaling molecules that influence development, communication, and defense across life. As the field of natural products undergoes a post-genomic renaissance, recent investigations and discoveries – from the micro to the macro – are forging a new understanding of how natural small molecules play a big role in signaling within organisms and systems.
