Categories of Membership
Full Membership
Full Membership is open to any scientist interested in the study of natural products.
- Annual dues: $70
- Multi-year membership options:
- 2 years: $120
- 3 years: $150
- 5 years: $200
Members may also subscribe to the Journal of Natural Products at the applicable member rate.
Associate Membership
Associate Membership is open to students of pharmacognosy and related fields. Associate Members do not have voting privileges.
- Annual dues: $25
- Student multi-year option: $80 for up to 5 years of membership, or until graduation, whichever occurs first
Associate Members may subscribe to the Journal of Natural Products at the applicable reduced rate.
Emeritus Membership
Emeritus Membership is open to Society members who are over 65 years of age and who have maintained membership for at least five years.
- Annual dues: $10
- Lifetime Emeritus Membership: $100
- Includes access to the ASP Newsletter
Emeritus Members may subscribe to the Journal of Natural Products at the Full Member rate.
Honorary Membership
Honorary Membership is awarded by the Executive Committee in recognition of meritorious service to pharmacognosy. Nominations are reviewed by the Honorary Membership Committee. Click here for more information.

Free Membership for Majority/Minority Serving Institutions
ASP offers free Associate Membership to all students, faculty, and alumni of:
- Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs)
- Tribal Colleges and Universities
- Hispanic-Serving Institutions of Higher Learning
- Other Minority Serving Institutions
This initiative is intended to support increased participation by Black, Indigenous, and Latinx scientists in STEM and to strengthen access to the professional and scholarly benefits of ASP membership.
Free/Reduced Dues for Lower/Middle Income Countries
ASP is now offering reduced Associate Membership dues for practicing scientists who are nationals of, and residents in countries (economic units) listed in the latest World Bank ranking as Low Income, Low to Middle Income and Middle to High Income. There is no reduction for residents of High Income economics units. (Note that Hong Kong has a different rating than China)
To qualify for these reduced membership dues an applicant must certify that they are a practicing scientist, a resident and a national of the country.

How to Join
Membership applications should be submitted through the online Membership Application Form (link in button). Payment may be made by credit card through the secure payment system.
Membership is administered on a calendar year basis from January through December.
To qualify for reduced registration fees at the annual ASP meeting, current-year dues must be paid in full. Renewal options are available through the registration form.

ASP members receive the Journal of Natural Products, available in print and web editions, at reduced rates (if paid prior to Dec 9 of the previous year). Subscription rates may vary by membership category and year. See the online membership form for the current year’s subscription rates.
